John Allison Obituary, Death – November 6, 1950 – November 29, 2022, Laguna Niguel A remarkable member of the human race passed away on November 29, 2022. The majority of people knew John Allison as “Jack,” and he passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was 72. Jack Allison was born in Los Angeles, California on November 6, 1950. His parents were Dorothy and George Allison. Jack was the sixth and youngest of six children and spent his childhood in Long Beach, California, surfing and sailing.
After completing his education at Cal State Long Beach, he went on to carry on the family tradition of working in the media. His television career got its start at Channel 12 in Salt Lake City, from which he later moved on to KPNX Channel 12 in Phoenix. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored Jack and his colleagues with an Emmy award for their work during his tenure there.
Jack started working at KNBC Channel 4 in Burbank the year 1988. Jack conceived of stories that were connected to significant occurrences that took place in the Los Angeles area, such as the Northridge earthquake, Rodney King, and the LA Riots. He took great pleasure in being in the newsroom, and it was easy to see both his enthusiasm and his talent in the stories that he developed.
Jack’s unexpectedly early retirement was the catalyst that brought him together with Mary, whom he refers to as “his angel.” Jack and Mary fell in love after meeting each other at their respective jobs at New Start Homes, and they eventually made their home in Laguna Niguel. The following twenty years were filled with ups and downs, but they never let anything get in the way of living life to the fullest and rarely passed up a chance for a new experience.
Jack was an avid reader and card player who enjoyed playing games such as bridge and Scrabble with his siblings. He also enjoyed sipping a nice glass of wine while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. Jack is survived and will be forever loved by his life partner Mary, his children Catherine (Patrick) Pritchett and Stephen (Shannon) Allison, his ex-wife Renee Allison, his extended children Derek (Cecilia) Wiscomb and Kara (Reno) Medina, 11 grandchildren, and his brothers and sister. Jack is also survived by his extended children Derek (Cecilia) Wiscomb and Kara (Reno) Medina. Early in the spring, private memorial services will be held on the waters of the Pacific Ocean.
