John Atkinson Obituary, Death – We would like to express our deepest condolences to John Andrew Atkinson’s family and friends on the passing of John Andrew Atkinson at such a young age. John Andrew Atkinson passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69. He is survived by Linda, whose maiden name was Hines and who was his wife and best friend for nearly 46 years, as well as by Kristen Ann, his daughter, who was the source of his greatest delight. Ruth and Les, his devoted sister and brother, are the only surviving members of his family who he does not take with him (Monique Robillard). His maternal and paternal grandparents, Helen Poole and Cyrus Atkinson, as well as his sister-in-law Les (Gayle Barr) Hines and nephew Donnie Hines, all passed away before he did.
His sisters-in-law Gloria (Bob) Blackmore and Glenda (late Carey) Myers and Audrey (late Terry) MacLeod, as well as his brothers-in-law Garry (late Linda Trudeau) Hines, Rick (Sharon Christian), and Lindsay (Kim Hodgins), as well as a large number of his nieces and nephews, cherished their uncle John. John went away on the 15th of April in 2018. Michael Hitz, Jayme (Hines) Findlay, Adam Hines, Blake Hines, Jennifer Hines, and Rebecca Hines were among his godchildren. He felt a deep sense of responsibility for the upbringing of his godchildren.
Johnny K was the proud owner of Atkinson’s Sports Bar for 23 years, during which time he made contributions to every local sporting organization or event that requested or required his assistance. In addition to that, he was involved in the local community at the time. When he was honored with the Hellen Keller Fellowship Award in 2004, he made history by being the first recipient of the honor who was not a Lions Club member. This accolade was bestowed upon him as a result of his philanthropy and his dedication to assisting other people. It would be an understatement to say that he had a large amount of compassion within him. His jokes and tall tales will be missed by a lot of people, but what people will remember most about him is his larger-than-life attitude.
“When was the last time I told you about…?” Hayes Funeral Home has been given the responsibility of making all of the necessary arrangements, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date. At that time, all of us will be able to honor his memory in a manner that is befitting!
