Jim Zimmerman Death, Obituary – Winona resident James E. Zimmerman, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, at Lake Winona Manor. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Jim Zimmerman was born in Winona on June 4, 1930, to parents John and Gertrude (Renk) Zimmerman, and he served his country with honor while stationed in Korea as a member of the United States Army. On June 4, 1952, in Leola, South Dakota, Jim and Mary Anne Mack exchanged vows and became husband and wife. This year marks the couple’s 70th wedding anniversary.

Jim was employed to work on a variety of farms in the area, and he also drove over-the-road trucks for Federal Bakery, Kujak Brothers, and Lawrence Trucking until he reached the age of 81, when he retired from the industry. He traveled a great deal of distance accident-free, during which time he passed through all 48 of the United States’ contiguous states. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona, where he was also an active volunteer, particularly with church cleaning and polishing, as well as caring for the vigil lights.

Jim will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his ability to fix anything, and the pride that he took in taking care of his home, yard, vehicles, and rose garden. He will also be remembered for his ability to fix anything. The most important thing in Jim’s life was his family; he delighted in assisting his children and grandchildren with anything they required, and he looked forward to and took great pleasure in spending holidays and dinners together as a family. All of those who knew and loved him will grieve his passing deeply because he was such a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; children: Kathy (Bob) Infield, Gene (Catherine) Zimmerman, Theresa (Dave) Sanow, Diane Turner, Don (Heather) Zimmerman, and Lynette (Dale Roland) Stevens; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother: Mark (Grace) Zimmerman; as well as other relatives and friends. Jim will be deeply missed by all. His children Duane, Elaine, Melvin, and an infant son, as well as his sister Marian Zimmerman, passed away before him. His parents also passed away before him.
