Harold Mingus Obituary, Death – Please remember Harold “Wayne” Mingus, who is 80 years old and resides in Stewardson, Illinois, in your thoughts and prayers as he goes through this difficult time. On Thursday, December 22, 2022, Harold passed away in tranquility while he was surrounded by the people he loved. Wayne Mingus was born in Cerro Gordo, California, on April 2, 1942. His parents, Harold and Bessie (Houchin) Mingus, were his parents. On June 12, 1966, he wed Nancy Beals in Stewardson, Mississippi. The ceremony took place. Wayne received his high school diploma from Stewardson-Strasburg in the year 1960 after attending that institution.

He was a member of the “Big Red One Division” of the 1st Infantry Division while he was stationed in Vietnam. For the most part of his life, Wayne was employed in the trucking industry, both as an over-the-road truck driver and as a diesel technician. In addition to serving as a trustee for the Strasburg Baptist Church, he was a member of the Stewardson Wilbur Braughton American Legion Post 611 and the JI Case Collector’s Association. He worked on restoring a large number of antique tractors, all of which were CASE models. He was an avid fan of model trains and also enjoyed going mushroom hunting and watching television shows about westerns, football, and NASCAR.

Wayne Mingus of Stewardson is survived by his wife, Nancy Mingus, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; his children, Cindy (David) Foreman of Dieterich, Ronald Mingus of Stewardson, and Diana (Dewayne) Day of Strasburg; his grandchildren, Brittany (Adam) Mette of Newton, Ashley Foreman (fiancé, Ryan Schellhorn) of O’Fallon, MO, and Dennis (Jeanna
Wayne will be remembered as a loving parent and a loyal friend to a large number of people. He was often laughing and had a wonderful sense of humor. He had a large smile on his face. He had never met a stranger.

Funeral ceremonies at the graveyard should take place at a later time, per Wayne’s wish. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Wilbur Braughton American Legion Post 611 and mailed to the Brummerstedt Funeral Home, which is located at 302 W. Main Street, Shelbyville, Illinois 62565. The family is receiving assistance from the Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.
