Randy Soto Obituary, Death – On December 22, 2022, the news that Father Randy Soto had passed away the evening before was being circulated by Saint Joseph’s Seminary with a great degree of grief and a sense of loss. The 21st of December is shown as the day he passed away in the records. The revelation of this knowledge was a devastating blow to our community on such a scale that it cannot be fully articulated in words. It was common knowledge that Fr. Randy was a generous person who frequently gave gifts to other people. This was one of the ways in which he showed his generosity.
In addition to his Christ-like humility and his knowledge of the Bible, what distinguished him as a priest was his compassion for those who were preparing to enter the priesthood. This was another facet of his priesthood that exemplified the qualities that made him stand out. The magnitude of the loss that Father Randy has brought about, not only to each and every one of us, but also to the Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis and the Pontifical North American College in Rome, where he had previously worked as a faculty member, is simply beyond our ability to fathom at this time. We simply do not have the mental capacity to fathom such a tragedy.
