Kevin and Brenda Mahalak are her parents. Mark has dedicated his life to safeguarding his country as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service for the past six years. Both physically and metaphorically, Mark looked to be larger than life. He enjoyed outdoor hobbies like fishing and golfing, as well as spending time with his family.
Since enrolling in 2011 to pursue his Bachelor of Arts degree, Mark has been a committed University of Michigan Wolverine fan. He had a lifelong interest in sports and spent his high school years playing golf and basketball. He had an unusual personality, and despite his formidable presence, his cheery manner and charming grin drew everyone to him. Despite his little stature, he wielded considerable power. Mark was a strong leader, a hard worker, and a dependable friend. He also had a terrific sense of humor.
He valued being a dedicated spouse, an active parent, working in a position that allowed him to serve his country, and going about his everyday activities with a desire to know and obey the Lord. Mark is survived by his wife, Sydney McElrath; his two children, Madelyn Avery McElrath (age 4) and Maximus Alan McElrath (age 1); his parents, Alan and Trisha McElrath; his brother, Nick McElrath; and many more loved relatives and friends. Mark passed away on April 15, 2019.
