Kathy Lockwood Obituary, Death – Kathy Lynn Lockwood, 61, of Waldron, died unexpectedly at home on December 20, 2022. She was born in Hillsdale on January 18, 1961, to Richard and Karen (Edinger) Fether. Kathy attended Waldron High School and Huntington College and graduated in 1979. On December 28, 1985, she married her high school love, Barry Lockwood, who survives her. Kathy was a loving husband, mother, and grandma. Her family was everything to her. She really enjoyed going for walks in the woods and caring for her grandchildren. She was a beloved science teacher at Waldron, Camden-Frontier, and Jonesville Area Schools who pushed her students to excel with zeal, frequently staying after school or over lunch with them.

Kathy freely offered her time, devoting herself entirely to each initiative. Kathy and her husband coached varsity softball at Waldron Area Schools, where they led their team to many district championships. She volunteered at the Waldron District Library and helped to launch the Camden-Frontier robotics program. Kathy was a lifelong student with an unquenchable curiosity who always offered sound counsel. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, and her competitive nature resulted in many anecdotes and laughs.

Her loving husband of 37 years, Barry Lockwood; their children, Sarah (Luke) O’Brien of Perry, Matthew (Bethany) Lockwood of Grass Lake, and Samuel (Kara) Lockwood of Seward, AK, Aiden, Collin, and Braxton Williams of Waldron; mother, Karen Fether; sister, Denise (Veryl) Doriot of Waldron; brother, Eric (Dee) Fether of Napoleon, OH; grandchildren, Quinn O Her father, Richard Fether, and her infant sister, Julie Fether, died before her.

Visitation will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 2 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the ceremony.
