On December 7, 1954, Bruce Wayne Lang made his debut into the world in Brooking, South Dakota. Glen Edward Lang and Mary Ann Lang, his parents, both passed away before he was born. His formative years were spent in Elkton, South Dakota, on the family farm. In the fall of 1973, after completing his high school education in Elkton, he enlisted in the military. After completing his military service obligation in Germany, he enrolled at Votech in Watertown, South Dakota. In 1979, he tied the knot with the woman who would become the love of his life, Linda Carlson. After a few years, they uprooted their lives and moved to Pine Haven in the state of Wyoming. Following thirty years of employment as a mechanic at the Cordero Rojo coal mine, he took early retirement.
He served as an emergency medical technician in Wyoming for close to 30 years. When the community of Pine Haven was just being established, Bruce was elected to serve on its first Town Council. Bruce has one daughter, and she is married to Andy Marushack. Bruce does not have any other children. Two of his sisters are named Sandy Shultz and Barbara Lang. His interests included activities such as elk hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and snowmobiling, as well as spending time with his wife. The best times that Bruce had were while he was fishing with his wife and daughter, teaching his daughter how to hunt, and spending time with his daughter. Bruce cherished the mountains and the sense of serenity that they offered. His wife is still his greatest passion in life.
It is strongly recommended that money be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Donations can be sent in his honor to the Gillette Memorial Chapel, which is located at 210 West 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
