The body was discovered not too far from the point where East Deer meets the river. The finding was made in the general vicinity of the river’s confluence with East Deer. According to the findings of the medical examiner, the person who had passed away was identified as Tirrell Lamont Smith, and he was forty years old. Smith was reportedly born and raised in Grand Rapids, which is situated in the state of Michigan, according to Inspector Mike Peairs of the Allegheny County Police Department. On Thursday, the authorities made the announcement that a medical examiner will perform an autopsy in order to determine the cause of death as well as the circumstances surrounding how it took place.

The authorities also made the announcement that they will look into the circumstances surrounding how the death took place. On Friday, neither of these was made available to the general public for viewing. On Thursday afternoon, someone saw a body adrift in the river and called 911 to report it. As a result, the authorities were informed about the precise location of the body in the river. When an officer from the Tarentum Police Department arrived at the scene shortly after 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the search was immediately put into action. An individual who owned a private boat and was located in close proximity to the Tarentum boat launch transported the officer along the river.

A continuing search effort was already underway when members of the Eureka Fire Rescue and EMS crew arrived, so they quickly joined it. A few hundred yards downstream from the boat launch that is located off of the East Deer shore, the body of the deceased person was discovered. When a fatality is involved in an investigation, it is standard procedure for the Tarentum Police Department to turn the investigation over to the Allegheny County Police Department after they have finished their initial investigation of the case. This occurs after the Tarentum Police Department has followed all of the procedures necessary to complete its investigation.
