Michael Starnes Obituary, Death – Michael “Mike” Lee Starnes, who was 74 years old at the time of his death on December 19, 2018, passed away at the TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He considered the community of Tompkinsville in Kentucky to be his permanent residence. Mike Starnes was born on January 23, 1948 in Barren County, Kentucky. This area in Kentucky was his birthplace. Before Mike was born, both of his parents had passed away. Mike is an only child. Both of his parents were doctors; his mother, Inez Head, passed away, and his father, Dr. R.D. Starnes, worked in the medical field. Mike received his high school certificate from Tompkinsville High School in the year 1966. This was the year that Mike graduated.
After that, he made the decision to enroll at the University of Kentucky and study architecture. After four years there, he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree and graduated from the university. Mike was an early investor in the company that would one day become Tompkinsville Building Supply and was a shareholder in the business. Following the conclusion of the deal involving the building supplies, he first started working for Anderson Brothers Hardwoods, and then some time after that, he started working for James Ritter Lumber Company. Mike was a devout follower of Christ throughout his whole life and was a member in good standing at the Mount Gilead Church of Christ, where he frequently participated in worship sessions. Mt. Gilead Church of Christ served as the setting for the wedding ceremony that took place on August 21, 1971, when he married Brenda Dyer.

Mike is survived by Brenda Starnes, his wife of 51 years, who resides in Tompkinsville, Kentucky; two daughters, Kim Parr and her husband, Jim, who reside in Cortez, Colorado; and Leslie Campbell and her husband, Michael, who reside in Alvaton, Kentucky; as well as four grandchildren, Siena Parr, Landry, Livvy, and Ramsey Campbell. In addition, Mike is survived by his parents, who reside in Cortez, Colorado; and Kim Parr Mike is also survived by his parents, both of whom were residents of Tompkinsville, Kentucky at the time of their passing. One of the persons who will continue on after Mike’s departure is his son, Michael Starnes, who also goes by Michael. Michael Starnes lives in Cortez, Colorado. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother who was known as Larry “Sug” Starnes.
His parents and brother both passed away before him. Both of his parents and his sibling had already passed away before he was born. At the Yokley Trible Funeral Home on Thursday, December 22, at one o’clock in the afternoon, there will be a funeral service held in memory of the deceased. The gathering is going to be hosted in honor of the person who passed away. Immediately following the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies, the burial will take place in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
