Marion Donnelly Obituary, Death – The demise of our beloved coworker and friend Marion Donnelly has left all of us at Ulster GAA in a state of profound grief as well as a profound sense of shock. Marion, who was a dedicated member of the Emyvale Club and a GAA delegate for Monaghan County to the Ulster Council, passed away unexpectedly last night. Marion was an outstanding member of the community who volunteered her time and was held in the highest regard by everyone who had the honor of interacting with her. Prior to her election as one of Monaghan’s two members on the Ulster Council in December 2020, she was a member of the Ulster GAA Finance Committee and served in that capacity.
She was a member of the Ulster GAA Hearings Committee as well as the Ulster GAA Scór Committee in addition to her role as the current Secretary of the Ulster GAA Club Planning & Physical Development Committee. Without her, we would be in a far worse financial position now! Marion was a remarkable GAA administrator who was known for always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a selfless person who worked tirelessly. She was a person who got things done despite staying out of the spotlight and working behind the scenes, and she never asked for recognition for her efforts. Marion was the Treasurer of the Monaghan County Committee from 2005 to 2015, and before to that, she held the positions of Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Secretary.
Her tenure as Treasurer spanned more than a decade. At the time of her passing, she served both as the Treasurer of the Emyvale GAA Club and as a pivotal figure in the establishment of the Monaghan GAA Training Centre in Cloghan. She played a pivotal role in both of these endeavors. We at Ulster GAA are all profoundly saddened by the news of her demise, and we express our heartfelt condolences to her daughter Aoife, son Colin, sister Nuala, brother Terence, and the rest of her extended family, as well as to her many friends and colleagues. The members of the Monaghan GAA County Committee and the Emyvale GAA Club, both of which she served on, are also remembered. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
