According to the WHPD, Eugenia Yurovsky, 89, of West Hartford passed away after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident close to the intersection of Boulevard and Whiting Lane. Tuesday at 5 o’clock, police were called to the scene, but Yurovsky passed away despite their best attempts. The police believe the vehicle to have been a white sedan. On Wednesday afternoon, police made a public appeal for any information that would help with the investigation. The WHPD asked locals and visitors to provide “any and all accessible information that may be pertinent to this event” in order to help their investigators. Police are also looking for anyone with high-tech assistance in the area. Police issued a request for doorbell or security video that might show a light-colored sedan with front end damage or any other vehicle that may have been involved in the crash from homeowners along Boulevard between South Quaker Lane and Prospect Avenue.

The WHPD is also requesting that any drivers with in-car video systems that passed through the vicinity of Boulevard and Whiting Lane review their footage and contact police if they see anything that fits the criteria given above. Authorities say that passengers on a nearby commuter bus may potentially be able to help. The bus #69 (Capitol Avenue Route) of CT Transit may have had passengers on board yesterday around the time of the collision, according to authorities. Local activists obviously took notice of the situation since they showed up at the location of the accident early on Wednesday and demanded that the town take additional measures to increase pedestrian safety.
