Eamon Mitchell Obituary, Death – Eamon Mitchell, who had most recently lived in Gurteen but was originally from Knockroe, passed away not too long ago. Mitchell was a former member of the Killimordaly Hurling Club and had most recently lived in Gurteen. The sad news of his passing has brought together a group of people who were previously members of the club. Our sincerest condolences go out to his sons Eddie and Michael, his daughter Claire, his daughter Martina, and his daughter Marie, as well as their individual partners and all of his grandchildren. He leaves behind a large and loving family. In addition, Eamon’s brothers Paddy, Sean, and Gerard, as well as his sisters Mai and Ann, and the rest of Eamon’s family, the Mitchells, are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
The Mitchells are also in our thoughts and prayers. Even after he had moved to England and played for all grades with the club during the late 1950s and early 1960s, Eamon continued to make regular trips back to Ireland to play hurling for Killimordaly. This was the case even though he had played for all grades with the club during those same decades. In spite of the fact that he had already competed for all of the club’s grades, he went ahead and accomplished this.
Because of his success in county championships at both the junior and the intermediate levels, Eamon was able to make the most of his trips back to his hometown. Additionally, he was a key player of the senior squad that nearly won the senior final in the year 1965. This team came really close to winning the championship. The fact that he was successful at these levels ensured that the time and effort he put into getting back home was not wasted. In the aftermath of Eamon’s passing, those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend will experience grief in very unique ways. I hope and pray that he is finally able to find rest and solace in heaven.
