Rose Navey Obituary, Death – Rose Navey Sturgill, also known as Rose Mary Sturgill, was our family’s first cousin. She was the daughter of Dewey and Pearl Sturgill of Thackers Branch. Our family has now said our final goodbyes to Rose. Rose Mary Sturgill Swindall Navey, a resident of Cherryville who had reached the age of 76, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Her daughters were by her side when she took her last breath. On December 17, 1945, she entered this world in Wise County, Virginia, in the United States. Her parents, Dewey Sturgill and Pearl Sturgill, both passed away some time ago.
Rose was a wonderful caregiver to her many roles, which included those of mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was also a wonderful friend. She found great joy in the time she was able to spend with her children and husband. She never lost a chance to offer love and support to anyone who was in need of it, and she never missed an opportunity to do so. Her husbands John Swindall and Charles Navey, as well as her granddaughter Cortney Dover, as well as six of her sisters, and three of her brothers, all passed away before she did. Along with both of her parents and both of her husbands, John Swindall and Charles Navey, she passed away before their time.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Lisa Swindall Dover and Joanna Swindall Greene, both of whom are married to Keith Dover; her grandchildren, Greyson John Dover, Ashlyn Rose Presson, Matthew David Greene, and Joshua Ryan Greene; in addition to her three brothers, one sister, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
You are cordially invited to attend Rose’s Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM in honor of all the people whose lives she touched. The event will be held in her memory.
