Mike Antell Obituary, Death – Michael Thomas Antell, Jr. was the much-beloved son of Michael Thomas Antell Sr. and Mary Ellen Antell. On July 19, 1989, he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (née Noble). Mike was tragically killed in a car accident in the early morning hours of December 16 while driving home from work at NFL Films. Everyone who had the good fortune to meet Mike adored him. He was determined to be and do his best in every aspect of his life. The most notable of these was his intense love and care for his family. He admired and adored his parents, and he attempted to emulate their love and devotion to him. Mike had spent his entire life in the embrace of his parents, and when he met Becca and Caroline, he joyfully welcomed them into that loving embrace. Becca, Mike, and Caroline quickly formed their own little family, and a baby boy named Samuel will soon join them. Mike burst out laughing and wrapped his arms around Sammy.
Becca’s partner, Mike, was always looking for ways to show her how much he loved her, bringing her breakfast in bed and leaving love notes between the pages of her books, on her water bottle, and on her laptop. For his most cherished daughter Caroline, he was the best father you could ever hope to find or even imagine. Soccer, reading, basketball practice, meditating, learning (a favorite of both), and lots of silliness, laughter, and love were among their many special moments together. Caroline’s heart will be altered for the rest of her life as a result of their unique bond. Mike was also a selfless worker who always prioritized others. Mike is a proud Temple graduate, a hardworking NFL producer, an assistant soccer coach, a lover of knowledge, a gifted writer and storyteller, an Eagles fan, a family man, and a best friend.
Above all, Mike was a gracious, compassionate, kind, and selfless individual. His mind was always racing, and as a writer, he was prone to scribbling down his thoughts. Thousands of notes were discovered in his phone after his death. The vast majority of them were expressions of thanks for the people and love in his life. There are also love letters to Becca, Caroline, and his parents, as well as philosophical ramblings, music and literature musings, and even coaching advice for Caroline. Mike has left us with thousands of gifts in the form of these notes to cherish during the years we will now spend without his warm, vibrant, and loving physical presence.
Please pray for those of us who have been broken by Mike’s death to feel the strength of Mike’s heavenly embrace, which is undoubtedly holding us all in.
