Jim McCoy Obituary, Death – James J. McCoy, Jr., a Haverhill resident, and former Lynn resident, died on June 29 at Holy Family Hospital. He was the much-loved son of James J. McCoy Sr. and Catherine McCoy. Jim was born in Lynn, where he also grew up and received his education. He graduated from the formerly known as St. Patrick Grammar School in 1945 and from St. Mary’s Boy’s High School in 1949. Jim regularly attended services at St. Patrick’s, St. Michael’s, and St. Mary’s churches. Jim was a soldier in the United States Army during the Korean War. During his military career, he was stationed in Korea for a year in 1953, where he rose to the rank of Corporal.

Jim spent 35 years in the retail grocery industry on the North Shore, working at Elm Farm, Purity Supreme, Richdale, Avnet, and The Star Market Company before retiring as the store manager at The Star Market Company. James had lived in Haverhill for the previous seven years. Jim is survived by his nieces Kathryn Cottrell and Sandra Gerraughty, nephews William Fisher, Sean McCoy, Craig McCoy and his wife Donna, niece-in-law Elinor Fisher, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Jim is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elinor Fisher. His sister, Mildred Fisher, his brothers Thomas P. McCoy and Francis J. McCoy, and his nephew Scott McCoy all died before him.

Relatives are invited to attend his funeral, which will take place on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Nadworny Funeral Home, 798 Western Ave. in Lynn. This will be followed by his Christian burial Mass, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Lynn’s St. Mary’s Church. The funeral will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
