Tony Cavis Obituary, Death – Anthony John Cavis, of St. Clair, Michigan, passed away on December 16, 2022, surrounded by his family. Tony Cavis was born in Port Huron, Michigan, on October 2, 1947, to the late George G. Cavis and Laura Marie (Gardner) Cavis. His parents have both passed away. He attended two years of Port Huron Junior College and two years of Western Michigan University after graduating from St. Stephens and Port Huron Catholic High Schools. He currently works as a teacher. For more than three decades, “Mr. Cavis” was a respected English teacher at Marine City High School. With the exception of the first, each of those years was spent in the same classroom.
Tony was a St. Clair Theatre Guild member who served in leadership roles as well as playing on stage and behind the scenes. He was especially pleased with his participation in the organizing committee for the St. Clair Sesquicentennial celebration. He also had a tremendous urge to visit new places, particularly Greece, where his father was born. Tony’s family was his biggest source of happiness in life. He loved being a spouse, father, grandfather, and Papou. Janelle, his wife of 45 years, his sons Jared and Andrew and their wives Sarah and Emilee, his daughter Laura, and his grandchildren Eva, Isla, and Anthony will miss dad the most.
His brother’s wife, Sharon Cavis, and a vast number of nieces, nephews, and relatives will miss his sense of humor and dedication to his family. Tony was predeceased by his brothers George T. Cavis and Elaine (Cavis) Tomlinson, as well as his brother-in-law Richard Tomlinson. Tony’s parents, George and Laura Cavis, as well as his in-laws, Jack and Dorothy White, predeceased him. A private memorial service for Tony’s immediate family will be held at a later date, as Tony asked. If you want to honor his memory, please consider making a donation to Kids in Distress in St. Clair or the Marine City Scholarship Fund.
