Stephen Thomas Obituary,  Death – On Saturday, December 17, 2022, Stephen Lyle “Steve” Thomas, who was 69 years old and a resident of Bardstown, Kentucky, passed away at his home. At the time of his passing, he was embraced by the loving members of his family who had been his constant companions. He was born on June 19th, 1953, in Marion County, and his birthday is on the 19th of June. In the past, he was employed at the Loretto Motherhouse, and after that, he went on to create his own company, which is now known as “Steve’s Home Improvement.” He looked forward to seeing his loved ones at the Nolin Lake House, and he never failed to feel excited about the occasion. Before Steve Thomas was born, both of his parents, Felix and Irma Dant Thomas, and both of his siblings, Phillis Ann Thomas and Richard “Dick” Thomas, Sr., had already passed away. His grandparents, Felix and Irma Dant Thomas, had also passed away.

Surviving members of his family include his wife, Helen Hayden-Thomas; his four children, Pat Thomas (and his wife Tammy), Brian Thomas (and his wife Mindy), Shane Hamilton (and his wife Jennifer), and Michelle Taylor (and her husband Kevin), all of Loretto; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Pam Medley (and her husband Danny) of Loretto and Ann Marie Ballard (and her husband Greg) of Holy Cross; and four brothers, John Dant At ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Loretto, which can be found at 6785 Highway 52. The Reverend Richard Goodin will act as the master of ceremonies for the event. Following the conclusion of the funeral services, the body will be interred in the church cemetery.

The Mattingly Funeral Home, which can be found in Loretto at 195 Holy Cross Road, will be open for visitation on Monday from three in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening. The Reverend Deacon Joseph R. Dant will preside over the prayer session that will begin at six o’clock in the evening. Riley Taylor, Blake Altes, Carson Altes, and Julian Aguilar will serve as honorary pallbearers. Alex Dye (Noah), Lilly Smith, Harper Thomas, Harlyn Thomas, Julia Altes, and Natalie Aguilar (Ivan) will also serve in this capacity. The following people have volunteered to serve as pallbearers: Tyler Reynolds, Zach Hamilton, Brennan Hamilton, Kyle Thomas, Jake Thomas, Noah Dye, and Keith Thomas.
