Maria Karvouni Obituary, Death – After battling illness for some time, we were shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Auburn High School’s Principal Maria Karvouni had gone away over the weekend. Our hearts go out to her family and friends. Maria was an extremely well-liked and respected principal at Auburn High School, and it is largely due to her efforts that the school has evolved into what it is now. Over the course of more than three decades, Maria has made important contributions to both the State Education System and the community at large in the Boroondara area.
Maria was a remarkable individual who was also a wonderful and dedicated leader who exemplified the DARE ideals that we hold dear. She served as an inspiration to everyone in our community because to her exemplary behavior. We strongly suggest that parents and other caregivers have conversations with the young people living in their homes about this news and any other themes linked to loss that are pertinent to their family. Because we are a powerful community, we will be able to draw strength from one another in order to get through this trying time.
If you have any concerns about your kid or children, please do not hesitate to call the school for support or refer to the Compass News Feed. The school will be providing support to students and staff members throughout this time. A memorial space dedicated to Maria has been established in the lobby of the school, and friends and family members are cordially welcome to pay their respects there on Tuesday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and write their condolences in a book that will be provided there. The family of Maria will receive any cards or messages that are left in the baskets that have been supplied for that purpose. We would like to convey to Maria’s family and friends, on behalf of the whole school community, our most heartfelt thoughts and sympathies during this difficult time.
