Kathleen McCarthy Obituary, Death – Kathleen McCarthy, a resident of Tarrytown, New York, lost her courageous struggle with illness and died away in a serene setting at home. The McCarthy family had eight children total, and Kathleen McCarthy was the eldest of the bunch.
She is survived by her siblings as well as her in-laws: Helen Herlihy of Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, Loretta McCarthy of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Edward and Betsy McCarthy of Lake Peekskill, Josephine and Christopher Stern of Fishkill, Daniel McCarthy of Wappingers Falls, and Walter McCarthy of White Plains.
Helen Herlihy is from Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania, and Loretta McCarthy is from Narragansett, Rhode Island. Her brother Matthew, who lived in Lake Peekskill, passed away before she did. In addition, she is survived by her nieces Colleen Schwartz, Eileen Mohammed, Meagan Stern, and Maggie Salls, as well as her nephew Jack McCarthy. Her great-grandchildren are Bryce and Brody McCarthy, as well as Matthew Salls and Mackenzie Trace, who is her great-grandniece. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of many cousins and friends. Kathleen had her elementary education at St. Columbanus, and her secondary education at Lakeland, as well as her undergraduate education at Rockland Community College and Central Connecticut State College.
Both SUNY and Pace University awarded her a Master of Science degree respectively. She spent the better part of three decades working for the Board of Education in New York City. During that period, she held a variety of teaching jobs at a number of different schools before retiring from her post as an assistant principal at the Borough Academies High School in Manhattan. Kathleen and her family spent many happy summers together in the Hamptons, something she always looked forward to. She placed a high value on getting together with her family. She was always going out of her way to make sure that everyone’s needs were met.
