Ireeta Ubben Obituary, Death – Ireeta Ubben, 92, of Phillipsburg, Kansas, died on December 14, 2022, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by family and loved ones. Elizabeth and Raymond Baughman gave birth to Ireeta on May 2, 1930. She was up on a farm in Peabody, Kansas, and spent her high school years working at the family restaurant. Ireeta met Wayne Ubben while directing traffic as part of a school club introduction. Later, he told her he knew he was going to marry her right then and there. On April 28, 1950, the couple married. While Wayne was attending WSU on a football scholarship.
Wayne’s job took them to Phillipsburg, Kansas, where he coached and taught school and Ireeta cooked and ironed. They have four children. Susan and (Harvey) Jansonius, Bradley and (Becky) Ubben, Tom and (Sue) Ubben, and Richard and (Brenda) Ubben are some of the couples. Ireeta has never met someone she couldn’t befriend, including her mother. She was many people’s neighborhood mom and grandmother. She was involved in the community by volunteering at the thrift store, eating at the bakery, and touring with the Fabulous 5. (Loretta, Carol, Sandra, Gwen and Ireeta) Ireeta was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ubben, son Bradley Ubben, granddaughter Jamie Jansonius, siblings Dick Baughman, Jim Baughman, and Judy Hale, as well as her parents.
Her children, Tom and Sue Ubben of Laramie, Wyoming, Becky Ubben of Hutchinson, Kansas, Susie and Harvey Jansonius of Hays, Kansas, and Richard and Brenda Ubben of Wichita, Kansas, survive her, as do numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brooks, Jessica, Eddie, Christian, and Chase Kansas’s Saint George. Grand Island, Nebraska’s Jayne, Parker, Roselyn, and Foster Loghry. Andrew Ubben, Brittany Ubben, Nora Ubben, Elsie Ubben, and Tucker Ubben Colorado’s Indian Hills. Hutchinson, Kansas residents Kandy, Josh, Avery, and AJ Gooch. Colter, Stacey, and Chris Harvey lives in Laramie, Wyoming. Wichita, Kansas residents Andrew and Grace Hauff. She’ll be sorely missed.
