Harry Foley Obituary, Death – Harry Warden Foley, age 95, of Alexandria, Virginia, and formerly of Berryville, Virginia, passed away at his home on December 12, 2022. He was a native of Berryville. Dedicated and cherished husband of Harriett Foley for the past 58 years; doting father of Glenn Foley, Wayne Foley, and Beth Steffen (Tim); and cherished grandfather of Daniel Foley (Katie), Bryker Hicks, and Jenna Foley. Additionally, she leaves behind a sizable number of nieces and nephews who will carry on her legacy. Warden was a member of the United States Navy during World War II.
His fellow military men fondly referred to him as “Mr. Fix-it” and “Mr. Young Man,” both of which are endearing nicknames. He was a life member of Moose Lodge 948 in Charles Town, West Virginia, and a charter member of VFW Post 9760 in Berryville, Virginia. Both of these organizations are located in the state of Virginia. His seventy-five years of service to the American Legion Post 24 in Alexandria, Virginia, earned him the honor of life membership in that particular organization. As part of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s Salute to Veterans initiative in the year 2015, he was presented with the Distinguished Patriot Award as a token of their appreciation. In 2016, the people who live in Alexandria chose him to be the “Living Legend” of their city.
On Thursday, December 15, 2022, family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, which can be found in Alexandria, Virginia at 5755 Castlewellan Drive. The visiting hours are from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. On Friday, December 16, at 12 p.m., a service will be performed at the graveside of the deceased in Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville, Virginia. The cemetery is located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In lieu of sending flowers, contributions can be made to The American Legion Post 24, located in Alexandria, Virginia; Capital Caring Health, located in Falls Church, Virginia; or VFW Post 9760, located in Berryville, Virginia.
