Merrill Melvin Obituary, Death – I must inform you, with the deepest grief, of the passing of Merrill “Bud” Melvin, who had previously served as the President of Guide Dogs of America before stepping down from that post. It is with the deepest regret that I must inform you of his demise. It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that he has passed away since the time that we last spoke to one another. I tell you this while holding the deepest agony and shame in my heart for what I have done, and I tell you it to you right now. I apologize. When Bud passed away on December 1, 2022, the day after Thanksgiving, he had lived a full life and had reached the age of 92. He was in the 92nd year of his life.
On the day that was indicated in the papers, his departure was seen to have taken place and was confirmed by witnesses. The memorial service for the member of the family who passed away will take place on January 4, 2023 at the location selected by the family. A memorial service will be given, but only immediate family members will be invited, and it will be very personalized.
At this time and in this area, it does not appear that a notification of the passing of the deceased is being distributed to the general public.
Instead of sending flowers in memory of Bud, the family has requested that memorial contributions be directed to Guide Dogs of America. You have arrived at the section of the GDA website that is specifically devoted to accepting monetary donations (that is, this particular section), which you can locate here. We would be really grateful if you could remember the family of Bud, who passed away not too long ago, in your thoughts and prayers.
They are going through such a challenging time right now, and we know that it would mean a lot to them. I would be grateful if you could just acknowledge and respect the sincerity and warmth of my best wishes.
